Deception and Guile, Vol 3 excerpt

At that instant “the thing” reappeared. Slowly, the nearly two-meter wide mottled black, brown and green colored snake like creature rose out of the slimy and murky swamp water. As it rose from the swamp the creature flicked its long thick tongue and "tasted" the dense moist air. When the creature’s head was some three meters above the surface of the swamp it attacked once again. The creature’s long sticky thick tongue “shot” out of its mouth and in less than a second it grabbed the ensign, who at the time was the nearest individual. The huge sticky tongue wrapped around the petrified ensign and yanked him back toward the creature’s ever-widening cavernous tooth filled mouth. The terrified ensign screamed and yelled for help as he was rapidly pulled into the creature’s mouth sideways. It was the same muffled and gurgled scream the previous victim made. As the ensign was "sucked" into the creature, his feet and ankles stuck out the right side of its mouth. When the long fanged and heavily toothed creature’s mouth slammed shut, the ensign’s feet were instantly severed. When they were severed they fell, boots and all, into the murky water and at the same time the ensign quickly disappeared into the bowels of the creature. He was swallowed mostly whole and dying, but still very much alive. He, just like the chief before him, became part of the creature’s lunch. The only problem was the creature was still hungry and sought more food. Who would be next?
